In this year of pain and devastating loss, we the people are still standing. It’s now, while every woman, man, and child with breath in their bodies are restless, activated, and eager for change, that we must continue this fight – this righteous struggle to which John Lewis, Martin Luther King Jr., and so many others devoted their lives.
We must continue fighting not only for ourselves, but for all of our voiceless brothers and sisters who deserve justice. With the names of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and too many others still ringing in our hearts, we must seize this moment of global passion and attention. The momentum is ours. As President Obama reminded us, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
